About Me

Under The Sea

As a mixed media artist I am always looking for the next method, the next materials, the next great way of getting results that please me. While I have a few tried and true mixed media favorites, I like to experiment with new ways of working.  Because hey, you never know when you might get that tingle of anticipation at seeing something new come together.

I started out as a photographer, but as time went on I got a little itchy about the “sameness” of the medium. Social media and built in high pixel cameras in everyones phones didn’t help make me feel special either. I actually think it’s little strange that people take pictures of their food. At a national park like the Grand Canyon no one looks at the natural wonder. They are all taking selfies of themselves with the canyon as a backdrop.

But that’s just me.

However, my point is that with the massive number of images taken on a daily basis I felt that I would head in another direction and found mixed media a blessing. I still use photography in my work, but differently than I used to.

There are so many different mixed media methods to research and try that I sometimes become overwhelmed by the sheer number of items needed. Or where to get what I need, or what is the best way to get a specific result. I can spend many hours, or, indeed, days trying to put something together. And spend many more getting it to work the way I have in my head that it should.

I noticed that in many of the Facebook groups that I participate in that people are always asking either questions in regard to where to buy something or how to do something, so I started thinking that maybe it would be a good idea to help artists find materials and guide them to information that would help them in whatever pursuit they were chasing.

I think that artists would be more likely to experiment and make beautiful art if they had a resource to help start them on their journey.

One that was easy to navigate. A useful place to find specific information related to products or methods, and most of all, a where to find what is needed at the best prices.

I created this website with the idea of helping artists find what they need. To help them spend more time working than in searching the internet looking for sometimes ellusive items or methods that can hide sneakily in unexpected places.

If you ever need a hand, have ay questions, or have suggestions about a mixed media direction I should head in that I haven’t thought of, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.
